Other Relevant Information

  1. The issuance of a visa is a discretionary act of the Republic of Brazil. Since this is a purely discretionary act, there can be no guarantees regardless of the circumstances presented. A visa can be granted, denied, extended or changed according to national interests, even if it is a visa previously authorized. A visa is not a right in itself, but an expectation to be admitted.

    Whenever there is a doubt on the purpose of the trip, the identity of the applicant, or if the applicant is aggressive or disrespectful with the Consular personnel, the visa can be denied or one also may be required to be interviewed by a consular officer, who may request additional documents or information.

    Although you may submit you application by a mail or courier, the Embassy reserves the right to require the applicant to collect her/his passport in person at the Consular Section whenever it judges necessary.

  2. This visa may be granted for up to 1 (one) year and it is good for multiple entries, for the time of the visa´s duration. If necessary, an extension may be obtained with the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration;

  3. Students planning to stay more than 30 days must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days of arrival. For this purpose make sure to take the second copy of the application form, which will be returned to you duly stamped by the Consular Sector;

  4. General conditions are subject to change without prior notice;

  5. The requirements listed above should not, in any way, be considered all-inclusive. The Consular Sector of the Brazilian Embassy reserves the right to apply additional requirements, when they are deemed necessary.

  6. Documentation returned by mail;
    Applicants should provide the Embassy with a self-addressed stamped envelope of suitable size.
