Visa - Business

Holders of Swedish passport do not need a visa to go to Brazil for business. Nevertheless, a visa (Temporary Visa II/VITEM II) is necessary for entering Brazil with professional equipment and samples of products (as, for example, for fairs and exhibitions).

Holders of Latvian passport must obtain a visa for business trips to Brazil.

Click the link Visa Exemption List to check if you are exempted from tourist/business visa.

Please note that doing business in Brazil is different from working there. A foreigner on business is someone who travels to Brazil to meet business partners, sign commercial contracts, prospect markets and like activities, which must not include:

a) earning remuneration from a source in Brazil;
b) sale or services to retail customers;
c) labour to a Brazilian employer (even to provide technical assistance or as a trainee

Observations

  1. The issuance of a visa is a discretionary act of the Republic of Brazil. Since this is a purely discretionary act, there can be no guarantees regardless of the circumstances presented. A visa can be granted, denied, extended or changed according to national interests, even if it is a visa previously authorized. A visa is not a right in itself, but an expectation to be admitted.

    Whenever there is a doubt on the purpose of the trip, the identity of the applicant, or if the applicant is aggressive or disrespectful with the Consular personnel, the visa can be denied or one also may be required to be interviewed by a consular officer, who may request additional documents or information.

    Although you may submit you application by a mail or courier, the Embassy reserves the right to require the applicant to collect her/his passport in person at the Consular Section whenever it judges necessary.

  2. Please note that in case business visa is processed by mail the applicant has to have a permanent Visa in Sweden or has to been living at the jurisdiction at least for one year (1). The obligation of living in the jurisdiction does not apply if the interested party personally presents the request for the visa.

  3. Obs.: For some nationalities, a case-by-case consultation should be submitted to the Ministry of External Relations, in Brasília. (Below, a list of the required documents). Please contact the Consular section for more information regarding consultation.

  4. Application for entrance visas to
    Brazil cannot be made at the border.
    Applications should be made at the Brazilian consular service having jurisdiction over the place of the residence of the applicant.

  5. Processing time:
    After all the documentation has been received at the Embassy and fees are paid, please allow a minimum of 10 working days for the issuance of the visa.

  6. In times of heavy workload, waiting time will increase. Therefore, do not leave your application to the last minute and do not commit yourself to travel plans until you know when your visa will be issued.

  7. When we receive the authorization, we will contact the interested part and he/she must then send in the passport, together with a receipt of payment of
    SEK 600
    for the Visa (if by mail please add another
    SEK 200).

  8. Do not forget to send a sealed and addressed envelope (registrerad) for return of the passport.

Consultation (documents required)

  1. Copy of the passport (pages containing identification, parents name, issue country, validity of passport and copy of the permanent visa in Sweden).

  2. A letter from the company or institution on whose behalf the applicant is traveling, informing:

    a) the purpose and intended duration of the stay in Brazil and the contacts the applicant intends to maintain in Brazil;

    b) that it takes full responsibility for eventual health care of the employee,

    c) that, if needed, it will arrange for an eventual repatriation,

    d) that the employee will not receive any remuneration from Brazil.

  3. An application form: fulfilled, signed, dated and with photo.
